This is a “miss it and you will have to walk for about 15 mins from changi village (like I did)” place.
Not a common and is infact a rather inconvenient location for a meal. I think most customers works in nearby loyang/changi. That, or they are staycationers from the chalets.
So, thanks to my new work location (moving even further east). I have a chance to explore these areas which is out of my radar for this car-less Singaporean. Yes, you definitely need a car (or take the number 29 bus from Tampines bus interchange, average frequency every 20 mins) to reach The Costal Settlement restaurant/cafe/bar.
The five cheese pizza ($20) was good, good mix of cheddar, mozzarella, gorgonzola, buffalo mozzarella and arugula. And the weight of the cheese just folds the thin crust. Although be warned that the portion is really too small to be shared. Order more if mean to share.
This is something well, different. I was expecting to see a traditional slice of cake with gula melaka cream and all (thinks cedele cake). But well it tasted more like coffee club’s mudpie (a fifth of that size). Nonetheless, the cake was quite enjoyable. The earl grey tea ice cream came out quite strongly. But at $15, more ice cream perhaps?
The bill came out to be $74 (zzz had a corona and a macchiato). I guess its the appeal of the vintage-y ambience and the notion of being away from the city. Choose your meals there well to make your trip and money worth!
